Trapped between the great neighbors Laos is a country on the edge of civilizations. But its palaces are mountains, its fountains are waterfalls and its halls are magnificent Karst caves. On the river Mekong, the artery of the country and its shores travelled Slavko Podbrežnik with a bicycle.

Saksofonist, skladatelj in producent Igor Geržina je prejemnik nagrade Status za najboljšega instrumentalista v kategoriji jazz glasbe.  Prejemnik 2 Porinov in bivši student ameriškega Berklee College Of Music je pred kratkim izdal svoj tretji  samostojni album Metropolis, posvečen smooth jazzu, s katerim je tri mesece  osvajal radijski prostor na  treh kontinentih.

Gre za medcelinski projekt umetnikov, ki izvajajo avtorske skladbe in afriške tradicionalne pesmi. Njihova glasba temelji na avtentičnem afriškem ritmu, navdih pa jemljejo iz salse, funka in world glasbe. Solist bo eden največjih mojstrov na balafonu (afriškem ksilofonu) Sory Diabate iz Gvineje.

It is an intercontinental project artists performing original compositions and traditional African songs. Klapa Maslina se ponaša z dolgo in bogato tradicijo klapskega petja.  Na čelu z izvrstnim tenoristom  in solistom Brankom Bubicom (dobitnik nagrade mesta Šibenika in Šibeniško – kninskega okraja, nagrade HGU Status...) je klapa kljub premiku od izvorne dalmatinske pesmi k popularni glasbi, uspela zadržati mediteranski, dalmatinski stil z visokim nivojem  interpretacije.

Klapa Maslina prides itself on long and rich tradition of klapa singing. With the fronting excellent tenor and solo Branko Bubica (the recipient of the award of the Šibenik town and Šibenik-Knin county HGU Status Award ...) despite moving from original Dalmatian music to popular, klapa managed to detain the Mediterranean, Dalmatian style with a high level of interpretation.

Repertoar bodo sestavljale tako Gjurinove uspešnice v svežih simfoničnih preoblekah kot skladbe z novega dvojnega albuma Duša in telo in Severine nepogrešljive od Kadar sva sama do novejše Kakor da se nič ni zgodilo.  Simfonični orkester Cantabile, ki ga vodi dirigent Marjan Grdadolnik, je svež orkester, v katerem se prepletajo akademski in ljubiteljski glasbeniki, zbrani z vse Slovenije. Kot gostje bodo nastopili: izvrsten mladi trobentač Domen Gracej ter Blaž Učakar z mlado glasbeno skupino Čedahuči.

Repertoire will consist of Gjurin’s hits in fresh symphonic disguises as well as songs from the new double album Duša in telo (The Soul and the Body) and from Severa’s  indispensable Kadar sva sama (When we are alone) to newer Kakor da se nič ni zgodilo (Like Nothing Happened). Symphonic orchestra Cantabile led by the conductor Marjan Grdadolnik is a fresh orchestra where there intertwine academic and amateur musicians gathered from the entire Slovenia. Excellent young trumpeters Domen Gracej and Blaž Učakar with the young music band Čedahuči will perform as guests.

In the fifteen years of her career she received many awards (the first award of the MMS 1997 Festival, 8 Golden Roosters in 1998, golden and platinum medals for all albums, second award of the Eurovision pageant in Slovenia 1999, the best video and song on TV MP3 NOW in London 2000, placing of her authorial song Reason Why in the top ten of the competition ISC in 2003, …) and played over 800 concerts in Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Italy. Mlada vokalistka Karin Zemljič je študentka jazz in pop petja na deželnem konservatoriju v Celovcu. Sodeluje v večih projektih: Tribute to Stevie Wonder, Feel the Phil, Studio Vokal Karnten : 4rt’lstund’n, Tribute to Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson Tribute. Predstavila se bo skupaj s svojim triom, ki izvaja znane pop in  jazz pesmi v avtorskih preoblekah.

The young vocalist Karin Zemljič is a student of jazz and pop singing in the state Conservatory in Klagenfurt. She participates in several larger projects: Tribute to Stevie Wonder, Feel the Phill, Studio Vokal Karnten: 4rt’lstund’n, Tribute to Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson Tribute. She will present herself with her trio and perform known pop and jazz songs with an individual style.

This is a concert of an established Slovene musician who performs easy pop but likes to venture in the area of soul music. She published several successful authorial albums and performed across Europe and the Balkans, however, Neisha now presents herself in an acoustic version. Along with her hits from all three studio albums we will also hear a medley of other renowned covers, which will ring in her specific style and pay tribute to the original authors. The acoustic set allows her greater dynamics and an intimate directness, where her vocal power and fragility come to shine. Come and enjoy the music, and have fun!

Vsaka dobra pesem je v resnici ljubezen, je pa prav ljubezen najzahtevnejša tema, kar si jih lahko izbere resen pesnik v obravnavo. Tudi če sodobnost le intuitivno razumemo, je to dovolj, da vemo, da terja glasno govorjenje o ljubezni v dobi, ki je že davno ponotranjila strah pred naivnostjo in si nadela temni cinizem, posebno avtorsko živost. Prav v brk »resnim časom« Maja Vidmar ljubezen sooča z lahkotnim pojmom zaljubljenosti, četudi v zbirki nikjer ne srečamo površnega čustva, pač pa izključno izborjene in bivanjsko pogojene različice čustvovanja ter čutenja. Maja Vidmar bo na literarnem večeru brala in govorila o pesmih iz svoje zadnje pesniške zbirke Kako se zaljubiš, ki je letos izšla pri Študentski založbi.

 

Every good poem is actually about love, but love is the most complex theme for a poet to choose. Even if we can intuitively comprehend the contemporary it is enough to know that it demands a loud expression of love in an era which has long ago embraced fear of naivety and has robed itself in dark cynicism, a specific authorial liveliness. To spite the “serious times” Maja Vidmar confronts love with a light sense of affection although, in her collection we do not come across a superficial emotion, but only fought out and existentialist determined variants of feeling and emotion. Maja Vidmar will speak and read at the literary evening from her latest poem collection How one falls in love, which was published this year by the Student publishing house.

Lela Kaplowitz in prijatelji uprizorijo nekompromisno jazz glasbo brez prevelikega stremljenja k modernizmu . Pripravite se na večer vrhunskega jazza!

Lela Kaplowitz is a Croatian jazz vocalist with a vast musical experience, a luxurious voice, and interesting ideas, but is also a woman of sensual interpretations and communication. To the public of Ptuj she will present a diverse repertoire of authorial works of jazz standard and selected songs from her newest album Little boy with a big heart (compositions from Boško Petrović, for which she wrote the lyrics). Ptujski jazz kitarist Stane Hebar je združil moči s tremi vodilnimi glasbeniki Münchenske jazz scene, s katerimi je imel v letu 2011 priložnost sodelovati v Nemčiji. Koncert nam bo ponudil sprehod skozi jazzovsko tradicijo, na kateri vsi člani zasedbe gradijo temelje svojega ustvarjanja.

The jazz guitarist Stane Hribar from Ptuj joined forces with three leading musicians of the Munich jazz scene, with whom he had the chance to co-operate in 2011 in Germany. The concert will offer a stroll through the jazz tradition, which is the foundation for the band’s work.

Člani skupine prihajajo iz Hrvaške, Slovenije, Kube in Venezuele. Cubismo je vodilna skupina za to zvrst glasbe na Hrvaškem in v tem delu Evrope, znana po kvalitetni glasbi in odličnih glasbenikih. Največje doživetje so njihovi koncerti in nastopi v živo, ki so polni eksplozivne in pozitivne energije.

Cubismo is a group that plays energetic dance music based on afro-Cuban rhythms but in its own unique and recognizable style. Besides salsa and Latin-jazz Cubismo has also been influenced by the elements of jazz, hip-hop, funk and rock music. The band members come from Croatia, Slovenia, Cuba and Venezuela. Cubismo is the leading group for such type of music in Croatia and this part of Europe and is well known for its high quality music and the group members' performing artistry. However, the greatest aspects of Cubismo are their concerts and live performances, during which their sparkling positive energy moves the audience to swing and dance.

V  tem glasbeno-scenskem eksperimentu boste ob strastni glazbi, plesu in besedi doživeli tudi atmosfero karizmatičnega  violinista Stefana Milenkovicha  pa odkrili v vlogi ki  ga poznajo samo nekateri – kot  strastnega  tanguerosa. Zgodba o Tangu je produkcija društva ARSANA, ki je eden izmed projektov Evropske prestolnice kulture Maribor 2012 – Ptuj.

Top visiting soloists and internationally renowned musicians will guide you from the old tango originating from inns and brothels (Tango Viejo) to the classic modern tango (Tango Nuevo). These conceptually accomplished selections of music, that was composed in the past hundred years, expresses love, fear, hatred, an apocalyptic state and even a meditative atmosphere. The show is packed with temperament, dynamics . The audience will be able to experience passionate music, dancing and the atmosphere of milonga. The charismatic violinist Stefan Milenkovich will present himself in a role that is known only to a few – as a passionate Tanguero.

The story of Tango is a production of the ARSANA Association and is one of the projects of the European Capital of Culture Maribor-Ptuj 2012.

Svetovno znani Komorni zbor Smolny je izjemni, pretanjeno uglašeni in polnokrvni ruski ansambel, v katerem poje 32 mladih profesionalnih glasbenikov, študentov oziroma diplomantov sanktpeterburškega konservatorija. Od leta 2004 ga vodi V. Begletsov, z njim pa redno sodelujejo svetovno znani dirigenti. Koncertni program obljublja dve podobi ruskega zbora: poduhovljeno liturgijo in s čustvi močno obarvano narodno glasbo.

The world famous Chamber Choir Smolny is an exceptional, fine tuned and all-Russian ensemble which consists of 32 young professional singers who study or have studied at the Music Conservatory of St. Petersburg. It is has been led by V. Begletsov, who cooperates with world renowned conductors, since 2004. The concert schedule promises to present two images of the Russian choir: a spiritualized liturgy and emotionally coloured folk music.

Klapa Cambi je ena izmed največkrat nagrajenih in popularnih Dalmatinskih klap, ki je leta 1990 začela svoj triumfalni pohod in nekajkrat osvojila prvo nagrado na festivalu Dalmatinskih klap v Omišu in Večerih Dalmatinskih pesmi v Kaštelu. Istočasno je osvojila velik komercialni uspeh s skladbami Gibonnija in še danes sodi v sam vrh te glasbene zvrsti.

Klapa Cambi is one of the most awarded and popular traditional Croatian a cappella bands or Dalmatinska klapa. They started their triumfant rise in 1990 and have  won the first prize in the Omiš Klapa festival and Evening Dalmatian songs in Kaštel several times. They aslo gained great commercial sucess with the songs of Gibonni and still belong to the very top of this musical genre.

Kaj dobimo, če združimo vrhunske domače glasbenike in naše ljudsko glasbeno izročilo? Nastanejo Sozvočja Slovenije, multimedijski projekt, ki povezuje uveljavljene slovenske soliste, kjer umetniško vodstvo projekta podpisuje Janez Dovč, končni izdelek pa so neverjetno žive in sodobne priredbe ljudskega izročila! Glasbeniki so razvili poseben občutek za kontrapunkt med danostjo različnih glasbenih tradicij in svobodo osebnega izraza. Na koncu novega veka ne gre več samo za renesančnost, temveč za resonančnost prostora, ne le za zvočnost, ampak za sozvočnost, ne samo za oglaševanje, temveč uglaševanje. Slovenska ljudska glasba je spomin iz davnine, odmev prostora, ki v sebi nosi različnost slovenskih  pokrajin ter kaže  kaj pomeni bogastvo razlik in kako pomembna je raznolikost, ne samo v kulturnem, temveč tudi v gospodarskem in političnem svetu. Spoštovanje razlik in upoštevanje celovitosti sveta sta ključna za prepoznavanje novih vzorcev, ki nas popeljejo iz ekonomske in ekološke krize. Z občutkom za dinamično ravnovesje in kontrapunkt nasprotij lahko presežemo “spopad civilizacij” in dosežemo “sožitje kultur” v Sloveniji, Evropi in svetu.

What do we get if we join excellent Slovene musicians and folk music? We get the Sounds of Slovenia, a multimedia project which combines renowned Slovene soloist and the artistic director of the project, Janez Dovč. The finished product is an extraordinarily lively and modern adaptation of folk tradition. The musicians developed a special feeling between the given diverse musical traditions and the freedom of personal expression. At the end of the modern era we are not dealing only with the renaissance but also the resonance of space, not only with sonority but also harmony, and not only with sounding but also tuning. Slovene folk music is a memory from the past, an echo of space which carries the diversity of Slovene landscapes and points to the meaning of this rich diversity and how important it is, not only in the cultural but also in the economic and political world. Respecting the differences and considering the wholeness of the world is crucial for recognizing new patterns which lead us out of the economic and ecological crisis. With a dynamic balance and counterpoint of differences we can conquer the “clash of civilizations” and reach a “symbiosis of cultures” in Slovenia, Europe and the world.

The participants will be acquainted with the materials and techniques used for puppet making and will create their own puppets and scenes for a play. They will gain the ideas of how to create puppets with children.

Najmlajša latino pevka Maria Masle je v tem trenutku edina izvajalka, ki prepeva v španščini "vroče" latino ritme. Maria Masle nastopa v družbi profesionalne, devetčlanske zasedbe Los de Balkan. Vrhunski glasbeni nastop bo pričaral temperament in strast latinske Amerike.

The young latino singer Maria Masle is currently the only performer that sings the “hot” Latino rhythms in Spanish. Maria is accompanied by a professional 9-member band of trained musicians called Los de Balkan. This top-act conjures up the right combination of spirit and passion of both Latin America and the Balkans.

Glasbeno-plesni projekt Ma'a  (voda po arabsko) je izdelek vsestranskih umetnikov,  ki se ob prepletu glasbeno-plesnih tradicionalnih prvin orienta ter sodobnih umetniških elementov  podajajo v svet Bližnjega vzhoda in njegove mističnosti, hkrati pa opozarjajo na medkulturni dialog, ki ga sodobni svet vse preveč zanemarja.

The Musical-dance project Ma'a (meaning “water” in Arab) is the product of versatile artists, who in the intertwining of musical-dance traditional elements of the Orient and the modern artistics elements, travel through the wolrd of the Midle East and its misticism. They also focus on interculural dialogue, which is often neglected in the modern world.

Franz Liszt je bil prvi glasbeni superzvezdnik na svetu, izjemna osebnost z divjo grivo, ideal romantičnega virtuoza, ki je spodbudil ekstatično oboževanje davno pred beatlomanijo. Letos praznujemo 200. obletnico rojstva Franza Liszta, demona na klaviaturi, ki je spravljal ženske v trans, moške v osuplost in tekmece v ljubosumje. Na koncertu se bodo predstavili vrhunski evropski pianisti.

Franz Liszt was the first musical super star in the world. An exceptional persona with a thick head of hair, an ideal of the romantic virtuoso that created an ecstatic fan base long before the Beatlemania. This year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birthday. He was a daemon on the piano, by bringing women in a trance and the men in astonishment and the competition into sheer jealousy. The best European pianists will present themselves in the concert.

The band Papir, which is accompanied great singers Ana Bezjak, will take us through a magical musical experience. They will present an original programme of popular songs, which will contain the hits “Objem”, “2010”, and “Srajca”, which spread through the Slovene public in the last few months. Strasten in uspešen kolesar Simon Eržen se je konec poletja 2010 podal s kolesom po deželi vzhajajočega sonca. Ekspedicija po Japonski se je odvijala v sklopu drznega projekta » S kolesom okoli sveta«, v okviru katerega ima Mariborčan namen prekolesariti ves svet.

As a passionate and successful cyclist, in 2010 Simon Eržen decided to cycle across the land of the rising sun. Expedition in Japan was running in scope of the daring project “Biking Around the World”, in which there is an intention to cycle the whole world around through 80 countries on all 5 continents.

The theme of the saxofonist from Ptuj and the japanese pianist will be Dance. Tango, Rumba, the Wlatz, Cakewalk … and the sax and piano. All this and more with the dance of Duo Kalypso. The charity concert and the fee of the performers is dedicated to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Dokumentarni film prikazuje zgodbo skozi oči treh plesnih ustvarjalk. Na filmu se prepletajo gib, risba in fotografija. Avtorica je želela gledalcu približati gib zamrznjen v nekem trenutku in ga tako ohraniti.

The documentary shows a story through the perspective of three dance artists. In the film the dance move, drawing and photography are intertwined. The author wants to present a dance move frozen in a particular moment and to preserve it as such.

According to the reviews Langa is currently the most authentic gipsy acoustic musical group in Slovenia. Their repertoire ranges predominantly from the gipsy ethno (Slovene, Hungarian, and Russian) and to authorial music.

Dopoldne od 10.00 – 12.00 in popoldne od 14.00 - 18.00 bodo potekale delavnice in predavanje za folklorne skupine, ki se bodo kasneje tudi predstavile s svojimi programi. Nastopile bodo folklorna skupina Gorišnica, folklorna skupina Bolnica Ptuj, folklorna skupina Rogoznica in folklorna skupina Poljčane.

Workshops and a lecture for folklore groups will be held in the morning which will be followed by concerts. The folklore groups performing will be Gorišnica, Ptuj Hospital, Rogoznica and Poljčane.

Bilbi je nadarjena, izobražena avtorica, pevka in igralka, ki si je v mnogih letih nastopanja na nemško govorečih odrih in v muzikalih nabrala ogromno izkušenj. V sodelovanju s skladateljem in glasbenikom Gregorjem Stermeckim je ustvarila glasbeni projekt, ki je pravi pisan kalejdoskop življenjskih zgodb, začinjenih z zdravo mero humorja, tragike in samokritičnosti.

Bilbi is a tallented and educated author, singer and actress who gathered a lot of eperience druing her many years of performing on German stages and musicals. In cooperation with the composer and musician Gregor Stermeck she created a musical project, which is a colorfull calaeidoscope of life stories, these are seasoned with a ripe measure of humor, tragic and self-criticism.

Mojco Kumerdej poznamo kot novinarko Dela, v katerem s kolumnami, članki, intervjuji in kritikami pronicljivo beleži dogajanje v sodobnem plesu, gledališču, performansu, filmu in literaturi. Z zbirko kratkih zgodb Temna snov pronicljivo, ostro in pogosto humorno analizira odnos družbe do telesa, erotike, minevanja, drugačnosti. Pogovor s pisateljico bo vodila urednica Jelka Ciglenečki.

Mojca Kumerdej is known as a journalist for the newspaper Delo, where with her columns, articles, interviews and reviews she thoroughly follows the happenings in modern dance, theatre, performance, film and literature. With the collection of short stories Temna snov (Dark Matter), she analyses in detail, with a keen eye and humour, the relationship of the society towards the body, the erotic, passing away and being different. The dialogue with the writer will be led by the editor Jelka Ciglenečki.

Orkester se večinoma predstavlja v različnih centrih po Novi Zelandiji. Opravili so šest obširnih turnej po Avstraliji, Novi Kaledoniji in tri po severni Ameriki. Po uspešni turneji v ZDA je mladinski simfonični orkester iz Auklanda prejel povabilo, da avgusta 2011 nastopi na festivalu Young Euro Classic v Berlinu.

The Auckland Youth Symphony Orchestra regularly presents concerts in centres throughout New Zealand. It has made six extensive tours in Australia, one to New Caledonia, and three to North America. Following a successful tour of the USA, the Auckland Youth Symphony Orchestra received an invitation to perform at the Young Euro Classic festival in Berlin in August 2011.

Chris Jarrett, rojen leta 1956 v Allentownu, Pensilvania, je ameriški pianist in skladatelj, ki že od leta 1985 živi v Nemčiji. Večinoma nastopa kot solo pianist, saj sta nanj vplivala klasična glasba in jazz improvizacije. Istočasno vodi trio “Chirs Jarrett Trio” in kvartet “Four Free”. Njegov starejši brat, Keith Jarrett, je smatran kot najpomembnejši živeči jazz piansit.

Chris Jarrett (born 1956 in Allentown, Pennsylvania) is an American pianist and composer who has lived in Germany since 1985. Chris Jarrett is mainly performing as a solo pianist, being influenced from classical music as well as from jazz improvisation. In addition to this, he is leading the “Chris Jarrett Trio” and the quartet “Four Free”. Chris Jarrett's older brother, Keith Jarrett, is considered one of the most influential living jazz pianists.

Chris Jarrett's music does not specifically target either lovers of classical music or jazz. His listeners are the center of his live performances and he wants to excite them, provoke thoughts in them and communicate with them.

Tamburaško Skupino Efekt sestavljena sedem glasbenikov, ki igrajo priredbe znanih slovenskih in tujih skladb. Poleg klasičnih tamburaških instrumentov (bisernica, brač, kitara, bas) igrajo tudi na flavto, saksofon, klarinet, banjo in klavir.

The tamburica group Efekt consists of seven musicians who play covers of known Slovene and foreign music.Along with the classic tambourine instruments (bisenica, brac, guitar, bass) they also play on the flute, saxophone, clarinet, banjo and the piano.

V odrski eksplozivnosti Vokalnega kvarteta VOX ARSANA je zajet moderni gospel, vrhunski pop ter izvirna avtorska glasba, vse skupaj začinjeno s čutnostjo soula, harmonijami in ritmi jazza ter dinamično barvitostjo večglasnega petja. Toti big band Maribor so v 18-ih letih uspešnega muziciranja izdali enajst glasbenih zgoščenk in sodelovali z največjimi legendami slovenske popularne glasbe. Z večnimi uspešnicami swinga iz vseh koncev sveta nas bosta Vox Arsana in velik mariborski orkester popeljala v zaključni večer festivala ARTPTUJ.

The explosive staging of the vocal quartet VOX ARSANA encaptures the modern gospel, top-notch pop and original authorial music. All is seasoned with the sensibility of soul, the harmony and rhythms of jazz and the dynamic colourfulness of composed voices. “Toti big band Maribor” published 11 abums during their 18 years of sucesfull perormances, they also cooperated with the legends of popular Slovene music. With evergreen swing hits from all over the world, we will be taken by Vox Arsana and the Maribor grand orcestra into the final evening of the ARTPTUJ festival.
